Founded by Diane Hathaway, Julie Ryan and Patricia Hopes, we are based in Southwest Iowa. Watchful Heart's numbers are growing rapidly, attracting people from throughout the region. We are concerned advocates from all walks of life united in our commitment to the following core beliefs:

WE BELIEVE that neglect, physical and emotional abuse and the failure to provide compassionate care to vulnerable nursing home residents have reached an alarming and unacceptable level.

WE BELIEVE the hallmark of a civilized society is caring for its most vulnerable. Addressing the plight of nursing home residents is a responsibility we all must share.

WE BELIEVE that an individual whose home is in a care facility is entitled to the right of self-protection.

WE BELIEVE that a camera placed in a resident’s room (to be viewed by  designated family member) can provide an essential tool to protect nursing home residents from abuse and neglect.

WE BELIEVE Iowa must join the growing number of states who have passed camera legislation to ensure quality care, protection and peace of mind.
